Urban Design Guidelines for the Buffer Zones of the WH Cultural Sites of AL AIN (UAE).

Study on the Al Qattara and al Jimi Oases Word Heritage Clusters and their Buffer Zones

The project, promoted by the Abu Dhabi Department for Culture and Tourism (DCT), has defined a strategy, design guidelines, strategic urban projects and regulations for the conservation and enhancement of the Buffer Zone of Al Qattara and Al Jimi Oases. Within the same study, a specific analysis was carried out on some settlements built between the 60s and 80s, referring to the National Housing Program: the Shaabiyat. For these buildings and settlements detailed guidelines and pilot projects have been developed in order to protect their urban, morphological and architectural characteristics.
